An update, ribbit.

Hey everyone!

We’ve been busy adding some new features to our game, and one that we’re particularly excited about is the inclusion of areas where Athena, our Valkyrie-Mermaid™ protagonist, actually ventures out of the water and takes that bold evolutionary step on land. In these scenarios the game mechanics will change — you’ll have a single jump and momentum will be much less pronounced — so the level design for the above-water segments will reflect this and feel markedly different from the underwater areas. What we really enjoy about this is that it’s essentially providing two different styles of platformer in one game.

Of course, that leaves the question of how exactly a mermaid would be able to roam around on land without looking hopelessly clumsy, and we’ve solved that by providing her a noble steed in the form of a giant frog. Thank goodness for altruistic ambulatory amphibians!frog_animation
