Good Guys
Divers
That’s you! In Blowfish Meets Meteor, you play as a whole colony of Divers – one at a time, of course – attempting to rescue their respective broods from their rocky underwater prisons. Using their trusty Giant Clamshells, they can protect against cannonballs, falling stalactites, or even (hypothetically) meteors. With you at the helm, they can’t fail!
Mermaid Daughters
These delicate little flowers are the daughters of the Divers and their mermaid wives. When they’re not desperately seeking escape from pockets of fallen rock, they lead relatively quiet lives. Many of them pursue hobbies such as singing, painting, or cooking (primarily meals involving Blowfish meat, their favorite food).

Bad Guys
Piranhas
Fact: there’s nothing piranhas love more than mermaids. Other fact: the word “love” in the previous sentence is not being used in the amorous sense. Unless it’s a culinary sort of amour.
Pelicans
We’re hesitant to label these big, dopey birds as “bad guys,” because they’re entirely harmless; on the other hand, if we don’t vilify them, how can we justify smashing giant, flaming rocks into them until they literally explode? We’ll call them bad guys.

Tools of the Trade
Oyster Backpack
These top-quality sentient backpacks are all the rage with schoolbound merchildren. In addition to providing roomy cavities for storing notebooks and squid-ink pens, their saliva-rich tongues make the perfect sticky surface for halting stray meteors dead in their tracks before spitting them in any direction their owners desire. It’s anyone’s guess how so many of them ended up inside blowfish eggs.
